Song of the Day (for Murphy)
My sons’s dog, Murphy, passed away yesterday. This morning, Sam couldn’t bear to hear this song from Toy Story 2 because he was already wishing he had spent even more time with the dog he loved while she was living. So I listened to it after he left for school this morning and identified with the toy that was left behind. I miss Murphy. A dog’s love is unique. Never again will I see her run to greet me at the end of a day. It never mattered what the day had brought when I saw her face running toward me.

"I'm gonna build this love out of straw and dirt...."
"I'm gonna build this love out of straw and dirt...."
Just a reminder that good relationships require work. But it's a really fun song too.

2013 - the fight that remains
My 16-year-old son discovered this song a couple of months ago and has been listening and singing to it for a while. Today, i think it deserves more exposure as a prelude to the first day after a bad year. The last line "the fight still remains" is encouraging to me.
